For more than nine years, ACSI has partnered with large, public and private school systems to provide translation and interpretation services, with our focus on education, to many bilingual students. In our work with school districts, we provided services for everything from parent-teacher meetings to graduation ceremonies. Students who see quick progress in their language skills are generally those whose parents are able to be more engaged in their learning, simply because English is their first language. A less privileged student, whose parents are not native English speakers, and are therefore less engaged, becomes left behind in the classroom.
ACSI excels in providing direct education translation and interpretation services for families, but our mission always stretches beyond that—we understand the grave importance of language access for families. We realize that parent engagement increases a child’s academic achievement. For this reason, we reach out to non-English Proficient (NEP) parents to ultimately provide them with the tools and support they need to become active participants in their child’s successful learning.
